Description
Overnight Camp Instructors
For over 20 years, Avid4 Adventure has empowered kids to live active outdoor lifestyles through our unique outdoor programming. We are hiring Overnight Camp Instructors for our Camp Blue Sky (Grades 1st- 5th) and Camp Windy Peak (Grades 6th-12th).
We are looking for staff for the following positions:
- Instructor for our Boys Cabins
- Rock Climbing Instructor
- Mountain Biking Instructor
- Camp Leadership
Relocation Bonus may be available based on eligibility!
Important Details
- Work Schedule: Overnight camps are a 24/7 operation. The leadership team will create a schedule that provides you with one evening off/week and segments of other time off throughout the week. Staff are required to live on site in the provided housing.
- Position Duration: Training takes place in Colorado May 16 - 29; overnight camp programs run from May 31 through August 1.
- Compensation: Pay is determined based on position, additional responsibilities, relevant certifications, and staff tenure. Starting weekly are below:
- Instructors: $440/week
- Specialists: $462- $528/week
- Relevant Certification Bonuses:
- Wilderness First Aid: $100
- Wilderness First Responder/EMT: $350
- Additional bonuses available for $100 - $400 per certification paid end-of-season
- Select candidates may be eligible to receive a Wilderness First Aid certification as part of their training! Must be 20+, certified to drive a van for us, and work at our Windy Peak Camp Location. Ask our team about your eligibility during your interview!
Job Duties
- Provide 24-hour support with guidance, supervision, safety and comfort for participants during all activities.
- Co-lead daily outdoor programming including mountain biking, rock climbing, kayaking, canoeing, SUPing and Leave No Trace principles.
- Organize and participate in camp programming, ranging from outdoor sports to camp games and rituals
- Follow and educate campers on safety protocols to ensure the safety and wellbeing of participants
- Serve as a role model and guide campers by exhibiting appropriate behavior, attitudes, and activities
- Provide exceptional customer service to parents and all participants in our programs.
- If you are a trained Driver, transport up to 13 campers to and from program areas with company passenger vans.
- Candidates with increased experience in one or more of our core sports may serve as a program area expert (i.e., as a Specialist) either supporting multi sport camps or instructing single sport camps in: climbing, mountain biking, whitewater paddling, or survival skills.
Your Background
- Our visa window is closed and we are no longer accepting applicants who require visa sponsorship.
- Must be at least 20 years of age by the start of camp for all remaining positions
- Drivers: Must be at least 20 years of age, 3-year valid driver's license, and have a clean driving record
- +1 years of experience working with kids in a professional or volunteer setting preferred
- Experience in our core sports is highly preferred, but not required for all positions (required for Specialists)
- Minimum of Basic First Aid, CPR, and Mandatory Reporter certification by the start of camp (and we can point you in the right direction to get this done!!)
