Job Summary:
Within established guidelines, performs various functions associated with the fabrication of contact lenses using appropriate machines and equipment. These operations are of a repetitive nature and require training within the scope of an approved SOP. Works in a team manufacturing environment receiving direction from the Production Coordinators and/or Technicians. Demonstrates qualities which show an interest and competency level for future advancement. This position allows the employee to become familiar with the advanced, quality critical stages of manufacturing contact lenses.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and organization of work areas and application of continuous improvement methods.
- Operates specialized equipment necessary for specific product groups (e.g., automated lathing/injection molding and metrology equipment)
- Independently operates a wide range of automated equipment and is able to meet production goals.
- Strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's).
- Performs multiple job functions within the business and willingly flexes to other production areas as business needs dictate.
- Contribute to lean/Six Sigma projects as required.
- When required, assists coordinator and/or technicians in managing workflow.
- Demonstrates the capacity and desire to participate on and lead teams.
- As business needs dictate, works extended hours to complete daily department goals or tasks to include mandatory overtime.
- Performs other duties as needed/assigned.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Exhibits good communication skills – verbal, written, and comprehension of the English language in order to read, understand and apply Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Proficiency in operation of and basic troubleshooting of automated equipment.
- Effective problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Demonstrates the desire for personal and professional continuous improvement.
- Attain a strong knowledge and understanding of the SOP's, regulatory requirements (eg. FDA Regulations) and cGMP's in the assigned product group, and the consequences of not following them.
- Regular application of GMP standards in production activities.
- Adherence to and promotion of safety practices.
- Basic mathematical skills are required.
- Basic computer experience including Microsoft Excel.
- Adherence to attendance and work schedule requirements that are subject to change.
Work Environment:
- Works scheduled holidays and overtime in order to maintain service levels for customers.

Experience:
- 1 + years of manufacturing experience preferred.
- Manufacturing or packaging experience in a regulated environment is preferred.
Education:
- High School diploma or GED preferred.
- Completion of a technical certification or related educational program is preferred.

For U.S. locations that require disclosure of compensation, the starting base pay for this role is $20.00 per hour and may include cost of living adjustments. The actual base pay includes many factors and is subject to change and modification in the future. This position may also be eligible for other types of compensation and benefits.
