Miller Brother Staffing Solutions is seeking qualified candidates for a Tooling Engineer position with a company in Erie County. This is a 1st shift position with a salary range of $50-75K/year.

Tooling Designer

Shift: 1st--optional 8am-5pm Monday through Friday or 6am-4:30pm Monday through Friday
Salary Range: $50,000-$75,000 annually

Job Summary
The Tooling Designer will design and develop single stage compounds and progressive dies, along with fixtures and gauges, using CAD software (e.g., Auto Desk Inventor, Auto Desk Auto Cad) to ensure precise, efficient metal stamping production. The Tooling Designer will create die layouts, maintain technical documentation, and collaborate with tool room staff to optimize tool functionality, durability, and cost-effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and Engineering: Create detailed 3D models and 2D blueprints for single stage, compound, and progressive stage dies using Auto Desk Inventor or Auto Desk Auto Cad software.
  • Feasibility Analysis: Analyze customer part prints for manufacturing feasibility, conducting material utilization studies and die layout simulations.
  • Tool Development: Design auxiliary tooling, such as jigs, fixtures, gauges, and stamping press machine attachments.
  • Collaboration: Work with tool makers, production managers, and quality teams to resolve tooling issues and enhance production efficiency.
  • Technical Support: Provide troubleshooting support to the tool room and production floor to minimize downtime related to tool wear or defects.
  • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive engineering records, including BOMs (Bill of Materials) and material specifications.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of metal stamping processes, die materials, heat treatment, and tool assembly techniques.
  • Software Proficiency: Strong proficiency in CAD software (Auto desk Auto Cad, Auto Desk Inventor)
  • Mathematics & GD&T: Strong mathematical skills and knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) to ensure part accuracy.
  • Experience: Proven experience (typically 3-5+ years) in designing tooling specifically for punch presses and metal fabrication.
  • Must be a US Citizen or Authorized to work in the United States.
