By joining our Equipment Section as a Transportation Auto Truck Technician I in Hardin County, you'll have theopportunity to Work on/with complex equipment repairs and builds for the district equipment fleet to keeproads and bridges safe for the traveling public.

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance and repair of automotive, medium duty, and heavy (off road) equipment.
  • Support daily operations of the KYTC Equipment Garage, including opening and completing repair orders.
  • Maintain repair facility organization, provide equipment care, and ensure a safe and clean workenvironment
  • Assist parts staff with inventory tasks such as stocking, labeling, and tracking parts usage
  • Operate a variety of hand tools and shop equipment including lifts, hoists, torches, welders, pneumatictools, presses, and lathes.

Ideal candidate will have experience in:

  • Working in a repair or garage environment.
  • Using hand tools and mechanical equipment safely and effectively.
  • Performing routine maintenance and basic mechanical repairs with minimal supervision.
  • Assisting with troubleshooting and diagnosing common mechanical and electrical issues.
  • Following established repair procedures, documenting work performed, and supporting repair ordercompletion.

Additional position information (travel required, standing/stooping/bending/lifting, sitting at a desk, etc.)Incumbents in this job title must possess the ability to work, sit, stoop and bend. Should be able to lift andcarry 50 pounds. Should be able to respond to emergencies and work in all weather conditions.

Minimum Requirements

EDUCATION:High school graduate.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS:Must have two years of automotive/equipment/truck repair technical experience.

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE:Vocational or technical school training in automotive/truck repair or a related area will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.):Must be 18 years of age. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license to qualify for employment in this job classification. Employees in this job classification must furnish the agency's appointing authority within six months of employment in the job classification, documentation that he or she possesses a valid Class A commercial driver's license. Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification. Probationary Period
