WAQTC Certified Special Inspector

Location: Hayden, Idaho or Spokane Valley, Washington

Employment Type: Full-time

Compensation: $26.00 – $35.00 per hour, depending on certifications and experience

Overview

A reputable construction services organization is seeking a WAQTC Certified Special Inspector to support inspection and materials testing activities across northern Idaho and eastern Washington. This field-based role requires hands-on inspection expertise, strong technical skills, and a consistent commitment to quality, safety, and accurate reporting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform field inspections and materials testing in accordance with WAQTC procedures and project specifications.
  • Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with approved plans, standards, and quality requirements.
  • Conduct testing and inspection of aggregates, asphalt, base materials, and in-place densities.
  • Prepare accurate and timely electronic field reports and record test results using mobile devices.
  • Operate, maintain, and transport field and laboratory equipment, including nuclear gauges, density testing equipment, and sampling tools.
  • Communicate professionally with contractors, engineers, and internal team members.
  • Travel throughout the service region to support onsite inspections and testing activities.
Required Certifications
  • Aggregate
  • Asphalt I
  • Embankment & Base
  • In-Place Density
Preferred Certifications
  • ACI Field Testing Technician Grade I or higher
  • Nuclear Gauge Safety Training
  • ICC Certifications, including:
    • Reinforced Concrete
    • Pre-Stressed Concrete
    • Structural Steel and Bolting
    • Structural Welding
    • Spray-Applied and Intumescent Fireproofing
Qualifications
  • Positive, professional attitude with a strong customer service mindset.
  • Excellent time management skills and attention to detail.
  • Comfortable using tablets or mobile devices for data entry and reporting.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and maneuver up to 75 lbs with assistance.
  • Willingness to travel regularly to project sites throughout the region.
