Position Type: Contract
Contract Duration: 6 months
Start: ASAP
Pay Rate: $22.00 / Hour (USD)
Shift / Schedule: Monday - Friday, 5:00 AM - 3:00 PM (sometimes until 3:30 PM depending on customer demand; Fridays typically end by 1:00 PM)

Job Summary
The Warehouse Associate I is an entry-level position responsible for all order picking, order verification, and loading of customer or carriers' vehicles in a safe manner. The Warehouse Associate I should be familiar with all areas of the forklift driving procedures for safely loading and unloading trucks to maintain efficient, safe operations. The ideal candidate thrives in environments where safety, quality, service, and cost are the highest priorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Practice incident and accident prevention, demonstrating safe behavior in all activities
- Obtain and maintain forklift certification by attending in-house training and complete daily forklift check sheets
- Learn to troubleshoot work-related issues and communicate issues with maintenance and Shipping Lead
- Work safely and maintain responsibility for housekeeping in work areas at all times
- Prioritize work assignments by meeting with Shipping Lead every morning and throughout the day
- Drive the forklift safely through the warehouse, mindful of pedestrian traffic at all times
- Learn cycle counting events and participate when needed; adjust schedule to meet inventory deadlines
- Ship according to FIFO principles on all items in the warehouse to ensure shelf-life efficacy
- Prepare product for shipping by reviewing the packing slip, hand-picking the product, and assembling the pallet
- Arrange pallets on flatbeds according to weight restrictions and driver input when loading
- Ensure correct product delivery by reviewing packing slip and product on truck
- Stretch wrap accessory pallets by placing pallets on turntable, adjusting height and tension
- Verify product quantity for shipment and receiving by counting and signing Picking Slip and Bill of Lading
- Learn safety hazards and job procedures by reading and understanding job safety analysis (JSA)
- Learn software programs by reading and understanding manuals and procedures
- Suggest improvements in work methods and procedures by communicating to Logistics Manager
- Work safely when loading and unloading van trailers; use dock locks and chocks to hold trailer steady when going in and out
- Learn hazardous material safety for spills and transporting material; earn HAZMAT certification and keep current
- Perform other duties as instructed by the Logistics Manager
- Complete daily review of email and department communication; maintain a good attendance record
- Maintain a positive working relationship with all plant employees and other business contacts
- Use process improvement tools to drive continuous improvement of the plant and business processes
- Follow and document Hazardous Materials Transportation Guidelines for all shipments
- Observe what needs to be done and take initiative to perform this work

Education Requirements
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required
- Forklift certification required
- HAZMAT certification required
Required Experience
- Minimum 1 year forklift experience in a manufacturing environment
