CDL Class A OTR Driver - Equipment & Flatbed Hauling
Position Overview Morris-Shea Bridge Company is seeking experienced Class A CDL Over-the-Road Drivers to transport construction equipment and materials between project sites throughout the Southeast and other regions as required. Drivers operate late-model tractor-trailers and are responsible for hauling flatbed freight, construction materials, and specialized equipment while maintaining strict compliance with DOT regulations and company safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate Class A tractor-trailer combinations in interstate commerce
- Transport construction equipment and materials between company yards and job sites
- Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections daily
- Properly secure loads using chains, binders, straps, and edge protection
- Assist with loading and unloading equipment when required
- Comply with all DOT regulations including Hours of Service and ELD requirements
- Maintain accurate ELD logs, inspection reports, and shipping documentation
- Coordinate with dispatch regarding route planning, permits, and escort requirements for oversize loads
- Maintain safe driving practices in construction zones and job-site environments
- Immediately report mechanical issues, safety concerns, or incidents
- Maintain clean and professional equipment and appearance
Minimum Qualifications
- Valid Class A CDL
- 21 years of age or older
- Current DOT Medical Certificate
- Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and Clearinghouse query
- Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record
- Ability to travel and stay overnight when required
- Ability to safely secure loads and operate in construction environments
Preferred Experience
- 2+ years CDL driving experience
- Experience hauling flatbed or heavy equipment
- Familiarity with cargo securement practices (chains, binders, straps)
- Experience operating under oversize/overweight permits
- Ability to operate manual transmission trucks
Work Schedule
- Over-the-road travel required
- Multiple days away from home depending on project demands
- Extended hours possible based on workload and mobilization schedules
