Description

We are looking for a Safety Manager to lead fleet safety and compliance within a commercial trucking environment, with full ownership of DOT adherence and driver safety programs.

This role operates within an asset-based trucking operation and is responsible for enforcing real-world safety standards across drivers, equipment, and daily operations. The position plays a critical role in reducing incidents, maintaining regulatory compliance, and improving overall fleet performance. This is a hands-on leadership role focused on execution, accountability, and continuous safety improvement.  

Responsibilities

  • Oversee fleet safety programs across trucking operations to ensure compliance with DOT and FMCSA regulations
  • Conduct safety audits, inspections, and incident investigations to identify root causes and corrective actions
  • Develop and enforce driver safety policies, procedures, and compliance standards
  • Monitor driver behavior, logs, and performance to ensure adherence to safety regulations
  • Lead driver safety training, coaching, and corrective action plans based on performance and incidents
  • Maintain accurate safety records, reports, and compliance documentation for audits and internal tracking
  • Partner with operations and leadership to reduce risk and improve overall fleet safety performance
  • Track key safety metrics and implement initiatives to improve scores and reduce violations
  • Ensure all certifications, safety requirements, and regulatory standards are consistently met across the fleet

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in transportation safety, fleet safety, or trucking compliance
  • Strong knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulations is required
  • Experience working directly within a trucking or logistics environment (non-industry backgrounds will not be considered)
  • Proven experience conducting safety audits, investigations, and compliance enforcement
  • Ability to manage driver behavior, safety programs, and regulatory requirements in real-world operations
  • Experience developing or implementing safety policies and corrective action plans
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to enforce standards and hold teams accountable
  • Experience working onsite in a fleet or transportation environment preferred

Benefits

Compensation: $72,000 – $75,000 base salary.
